Conditions
Report
Millions of people visit a chiropractor each year, according to the American Chiropractic Association.
Why?
Because as the United States Bone and Joint Initiative reports, more than half of adults suffer from low back pain, neck pain, osteoporosis, arthritis and musculoskeletal injuries.
Chiropractors are an acknowledged first line of treatment for diagnosing, treating, and then preventing future musculoskeletal pain.
The American College of Physicians' recent update to its lower back pain treatment guidelines recommends non-drug treatments such as chiropractic spinal manipulation as a first course of action.
Back Pain
Report
Pain is a signal from the body that tells us something is wrong.
It might be a message that you are doing something dangerous, like when you touch a hot stove by accident.
Before you realize you are touching a hot stove, your skin registers a pain signal and you jerk your hand away before you have time to blink.
In a similar manner, when you experience chronic pain, it is your body's way of communicating that something isn't functioning correctly.
Instead of stifling this message with drugs, wouldn't you rather find the cause of the pain and attempt to cut it off at the source?
Knee Pain
Report
Knee pain is usually the result of osteoarthritis, an injury, or a mechanical problem after years of wear and tear.
Like any joint in your body, overuse can lead to strain and chronic pain.
Many knee problems begin during sports activities or work-related tasks.
Injury-related knee pain often affects your ligaments, tendons, and the fluid around your knee joint.
It's also possible to hurt the bones and cartilage in your knee.
If left untreated, you may experience long-term pain.
ACL Injuries: tearing of one of the ligaments that connect the bones in your leg, a common injury for football, basketball, and soccer players.
Disc Conditions
Report
A spinal disk is a little like a jelly donut, with a softer center encased within a tougher exterior.
Its purpose is to separate the vertebrae (bones in the spine) from each other thus keeping open the spaces between the bones of the spinal column.
These openings are how your nerves enter and exit your spinal column.
These nerves transmit all information to and from your brain to your body parts and from your body parts back to the brain.
When a disc slips, bulges or becomes herniated, the bones of the spine become misaligned and often the bones and/or the disc, presses against nerves which decreases their function and very often cause you to feel pain.
